Finals of croquet
(N.Z. Press Association: . DUNEDIN. lhe New Zealand Croquet Association’s gold and silver mallets competition ended on Saturday. F. Peters (Tainui) won the gold mallet brooch and Mrs G. Collins (Wellington) the silver mallet brooch. Final results:—
Section 1: Mrs H. Whitehead (Tainui) 26, M. Porter (South Canterbury) 24. Play-off for section winner: Mrs G. Collins (Wellington) 26, Mrs Whitehead
Section 2: J. N. Davison (Montecillo) 26, Mrs W. Grimman (Montecillo) 15.
Final of competition: F. Peters (Tainui) 26, Mrs Collins 20.
Hockey.—lndia made a clean sweep of the hockey test series against Britain on Saturday, winning the fourth and final match, 2-0. Both goals were scored in the first half by the right outer, Ganish and centre forward, Gernandes.
Portuguese open.—L. Platts (Britain), won the Portuguese Open golf championship with a four round total of 277 on the Estroll course on Saturday,
