Career digest from prison

(N.Z. Press Assn. —Copyright) LONDON. At Shepton Mallet, in Somerset, two prisoners have written a 100,000-word reference book called “New Careers” to help Britain’s 40,000 prisoners face the outside world, the Press Association reports.

One of the authors, who gets 30 pence a week prison pay, raised £7OO from trade unions and business concerns to get 1000 copies of the directory printed for circulation among prisoners.

The Home Office approved the draft, and a former governor of Shepton, Mr B. D. Wigginton, wrote the foreword.
