Women’s cricket

St Albans II was in a good position to force an outright win over Hagley when play ended on the first day of the third round of the senior women’s cricket competition on Saturday. Much of the credit for St Albans gaining the upper hand must go to A. McKenna, who finished with five wickets for seven runs.

The other senior game, between St Albans I and Western, is more evenly poised. E. Rouse, with 91 for Western, was the batting star in a game which so tar has produced a number of worth-while innings. Scores:—

St Albans II 154/4 declared (S. Rattray 26, D. Jelly 50 not out, J. Hamilton 26, A. McKenna 24, S. Masters 16 not out; R. Murray 3/38, H. Kirk V 27) v. Hagley 52 (R. Murray 19, C. Foote 14; S.
