Selassie flies on
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) PEKING, Oct. 10. Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia left Peking today for Shanghai' accompanied by the Chinese Prime Minister (Mr Chou En-lai), after the two countries had signed trade and aid ( agreements. Sources close to the Ethi-] opian entourage said that un-; der the agreements China would provide Ethiopia with a £3sm long-term loan. The indications are that the loan will be used for agri|cultural development. ! More than one thousand Chinese youths and girls in ■ folk costumes of various reigions of China shouted farei wells and danced in a blustery wind at the airport. Some foreign diplomats at; the airport to see the party! off said that the fact that Mr Chou was also leaving Peking indicated the relaxed political climate in China, despite speculation abroad. Members of the Ethiopian delegation have reported j Chairman Mao as “well and happy.” The Ethiopian Emperor will; not be returning to Peking;! after visiting Shanghai,! China’s largest city, he will fly to Canton. He is due to leave for Iran on Wednesday.
