ATTACK ON WOMAN
Hotel worker hit on head (N.Z. Press Association) HAMILTON, Sept. 9. A young woman was attacked in her bed at Hangatiki early this morning in what police described as a vicious assault. The Otorohanga police said that an intruder entered the woman’s bedroom while she was asleep. The woman, Miss Regula Gffler, aged 22, of Switzerland, is in a satisfactory condition in Te Kuiti Hospital today. Miss Gffler is on a working holiday in New Zealand. Police said she was awakened about 5 a.m. by an intruder who struck her on the head with a heavy instrument. The intruder then made off, and Miss Gffler was admitted to hospital suffering from cuts to her head. Miss Gffler was working at the White Heron Lodge at Hangatiki and the incident occurred in the staff quarters, police said.
