» land, raced by Mr C. L. Rhodes, of Christchurch, showed his best form when he won the First Graduation Stakes at Harold Park last Friday. He won by five yards from Commando (Scottish Command—Aileen Hall), and recorded a mile rate of 2mta 7 3-ssec for the Ilf furlongs. Free Title, which started equal favourite at 5/4, Is trained by K. Newman. Bangaroo Flex caused one of the surprises of the night when he beat the hot favourite. Rocket Glenfern, ta the second heat of the Four-year-old Stakes. Bangaroo Flex started at 8/1, while Hockey Glenfern was at 7/4 on. Bangaroo Flex is by Springflex from Scottish Pigeon, an unraced half-sister by U. Scott to Colwyn Bay, the dam of Cardigan Bay. He Is raced by Mr R. w. Croghan, who has made frequent visits to New Zealand, where he has secured more than 30 brood mares of choice bloodlines.
