No upsets in N.Z. badminton

The national men's singles champion tor the last four sea* sons, R. H. Purser (Taranaki), and his Australian Whyte trophy opponent, R. Livingston, seeded first and second in the New Zea* Land badminton were untroubled In winning their matches in the first session of play at Skellerup Hall last evenpurser conceded only three S pints in beating the unseeded . Weatheaton (Otago), in his only singles match of the evening, while Livingston found K. Taylor (Taranaki) a similarly easy opponent. The first and second rounds of the men’s singles, the first round of the women's singles, and the first three rounds of the mixed. doubles were completed last evening.
