Last trophy challenge

Canterbury’s indoor bowls team will meet its last challenge of the season for the A, S. Paterson Trophy on Saturday, when it plays Nelson at the Keareny's Road Hall.

The winner will qualify to play the North Island holder of the A. S. Paterson Trophy on October 2 for the Welch Trophy.

The teams are:— Canterbury.—L. McLennan B. Stewart, L. Bellis, A. E. Williamson (s); Mrs J. Stewart, W. Trembath, N. Trembath, Mrs J. Stewart, W. Trembath, T. Austin (s). Nelson.—G. Persico, J. Holland, J. Nalder, W, Fergusson (s); J. O’Kane, B. McNabb, K. Hault, D. Scott (s). Scott, an accomplished skip, has been paired with McNabb, and they have been together in many major tournaments. Nalder is an experienced bowler, while Persico, a consistent lead, is always hard to beat. Three changes have been made in the Canterbury team which played its last game against Marlborough. The Trembath brothers replace D. J. Stewart and J. A. Burrows, and McLennan comes in for. K. Beatty.

This will be N. Trembath’s first appearance for Canterbury.
