Cancer study gifts
Gifts of $3924 to the University of Otago Medical School and $l2OO to the Canterbury division of the Cancer Society of New Zealand have been made from the Robert McClelland Trust, the District Public Trustee in Christchurch (Mr V. E. Barker) announced yesterday.
Mr McClelland was an Ellesmere farmer who left the residue of his estate on trust so the income could go towards research into the cause and cure of cancer. Since the inception of the trust in 1955 about $65,155 has been distributed. The members of the trust board consist of Mr Barker (chairman), the Medical Sup-erintendent-in-Chief of the
North Canterbury Hospital Board (Dr L. McH. Berry) and the chairman of the Ellesmere County Council (Mr W. E. Walker).
