Rail travel concession

Competition between riders from the North and South Islands should in* crease this season with the decision of the New Zealand Railways to grant a concession to motor-cycle sportsmen. The general manager of the Railways (Mr L Thomas) has notified the New Zealand Auto Cycle Union that when competition motor-cycles are carried in or on other motor vehicles by, the Cook Strait rail ferry service, no charge will be made for the motor-cycle so conveyed. “I trust that thl* concession will assist your members in travelling to take part in meetings throughout the country,” Mr Thomas told the union. The concession is the result of an approach i originally made by the union to the Railways De- ; partment.
