PRICE OF PETROL
s No price rise planned (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 1. The Government had no intention at present to increase either petrol tax or ■ the price of petrol itself, the Minister of Industries and Commerce (Mr Shelton) told Parliament.
Replvine to a question from Mr W. W. Freer (Lab., Mount Albert) he said the prediction, of the president of the New Zealand Automobile Association (Mr J. B. Horrocks) that petrol would increase in price by 7c within two years was not based on; Government intentions. However, said Mr Shelton, it was not practicable to envisage what increase in costs might arise either in New Zealand dr in the overseas costs of petroleum products which might call for some movement in the price in the next two years.
