Lord Barnby (Frances Vernon Willey) who appointed The Guardian Trust and Executors Co. of N.Z., Ltd, as trustee and nominated an advisory committee to decide upon disbursement of the trust income. , So far, the committee has, in the exercise of its discretion under the trust deed, concentrated on awards which would aid research and education in the production, processing and marketing of wool, the general development and improvement of the sheep and wool industry and the promotion of this primary industry for the national benefit and advantage. The committee has now decided to establish scholarships to further the above objects with special reference to the manufacturing aspects of the sheep and wool industry. These scholarships are normally to be available to persons between 19 and 27 years of age who are already employed in the industry and are to assist them to undertake further study or to obtain practical experience at some institution (academic, commercial or otherwise) approved by the advisory committee.
