Snowfall saves Coronet Cup
The Coronet Cup ski race, which was postponed early last month because of lack of snow will now be held at Coronet Peak this week-end. Most of New Zealand’s top skiers, including last year’s national champions, C. Womersley and Miss R. Willis, will compete. The event, sponsored by the Mount Cook and Southern Lakes Tourist Company, Ltd, was postponed last month because of lack of snow, but about 6in of snow which has fallen in the last few days at Coronet Peak enabled the company to make a decision yesterday afternoon to go ahead with the race. The 6in of snow will be sufficient for the racers, to compete. It was still Snowing yesterday.
