MR G. D. WISE . (N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN, September 1. A former All Black and well-known Dunedin businessman, Mr George Denis Wise, died suddenly in Dunedin today at the age of 67. Mr Wise retired at the end of 1964 from the position of farming superintendent of the NMA Company of N.Z., Ltd, which employed him for 40 years. He previously had managed both the Christchurch and Dunedin branches of the company.
His career with the NMA was concerned mainly with wool and livestock. He began selling wool in Christchurch in 1936. He became the head auctioneer in Christchurch, and then branch manager in 1946. Between 1950 and 1956, he was branch manager in Dunedin until his appointment as farming superintendent at the head office, Dunedin. He played Rugby for Otago for five years from 1921 and was a wing three-quarter in the 1925 All Black team which toured Australia.
