Russian cars
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 1. Plans to import Russian cars to New Zealand for the first time are being considered by customs authorities. This was announced at the trade fair in Wellington tonight by Mr Alexander Naumov, commercial counsellor at the U.S.SJL legation, who said previous proposals to market Soviet cars here had been unsuccessful because of the small quantities for which permission had been given. “We are now ready to send 800 to 1000 Moskvich cars to New Zealand, and have applied to the Minister of Customs (Mr Adams-Schneider). He has replied that the question is under consideration,’ Mr Naumov said.
