Senate vote on limits
<N.ZP.A.-Reuter—Copgright; WASHINGTON. August 5. The United States Senate has voted to limit the amount of money a Presidential or Congressional candidate can spend on his own election campaign. The Senate approved the limitations when considering amendments to a pending bill intended to cut the high costs of American election campaigns. The bill is expected to be approved tomorrow.
The amendment would prohibit a Presidential candidate from spending more than SUSSO,OOO on his own behalf. Limitations of 5U535.000 and $U525,000 were set for Senate and House of Representatives candidates.
