China and India

Sir,—ln your leading article on the Pakistan-India trouble you bring in China, saying that “harassment” from the Chinese on the border need not be expected. In answer to this statement, China does not interfere in another country’s affairs, and if you are referring to the recent defeat of the Indian forces by China and wish to understand fuHy the whole story, it is recommended that you read “India’s China War,” by Neville Chambers, published in England and also in Bombay, and referred to in a letter to “The Press" today. The book gives the full account of the calumny of the Indian troops under Nehru’s leadership. They did not expect the Chinese would fight back after repeated aggression by the Indians, arid what a shock they got when they were driven deep into Indian territory.—Yours, etc., P.JJL August 5, 1971.
