"Wine mark” proposed

(N.Z. Press Association)

WELLINGTON, Aug. 5. The New Zealand wine industry wants to set up a “wine mark” similar to the Woolmark idea, as a seal of quality for its best wines. This is one of several proposals which are being investigated by a Government caucus committee headed by the Under-Secretary of Agriculture (Mr Dick). The other members are Messrs L. W. Gandar (Manawatu), and V. S. Young (Egmont). Mr Dick said today that they visited five vineyards in Hawke’s Bay yesterday and met representatives of the wine industry in Napier. Tomorrow the committee will have similar talks in Auckland, and visit Auckland vineyards.
