Fairscott may win again at Franklin
After his excellent win in the Taumarunui Cup last week, Fairscott will be confidently backed in the Motion Handicap, first leg of the T.A.B. concession double at the Franklin meeting tomorrow.
Although the field tomorrow looks a strong one. it is not quite up to the standard of last week, and Fairscott’s riB ® ®(, 81b does not appear prohibitive. The interesting runner in the field, and the one which might give Fairscott the most opposition, is Not Again. He has had only three starts since returning from Australia. At the second of them he ran fourth to Triton over a mile at Ellerslie. He was then beaten over a mile at Trentham. This will be his first test over a middle distance on
this campaign, and the longer journey should suit him better than a mile. He has shown his best form so far over middle or long distances.
Other form runners in the field are Suizu, Free Pass, andßuakiwi Lass. The promising Le Filou four-year-old, Suizu, might do best of these. He was a close third to Just Laddie last week over seven furlongs and should go well over the longer journey. Free Pass has been racing most consistently and should be close at the finish again, while Ruakiwi Lass would have a distinct chance if she repeated her run of last week when she beat all but Fairscott. , The second leg of the double, the W. J. Short Handicap, looks quite open. Brylee has the best recent form, but Simple Simon and Seiko, both last-start failures, are expected, to prove tough to beat.
