Greenstone likely at Hastings
"Th* Frew” Special Service 1 HASTINGS. A good barrier draw is vital to success In any 1} mile race at Hastings where there is only a short run from the start to the first bend. Because he has drawn well, Greenstone, a powerful frontrunner and one of several horses with good recent form, is selected to win the Springvale Handicap, 10 furlongs, first leg of the T.A.B. double at the Hawke's Bay-Danne-virke Hunt races at Hastings tomorrow. Greenstone ran third in the Gatrell Handicap at Marton last Saturday wnen possibly in need of the race, which was his first since he ran
fifth in the Te Mata Handicap at Hastings and second in the Hawke’s Bay Winter Handicap. The issue in the six furlongs Omarunui Hack Handicap, second leg of the T.A.B. double, hinges to a large extent on the top-weight, Mill Court. Two factors are prejudicing his chance of taking his place in the field, according to his owner-trainer, W. D. Stephens. First, Mill Court, which has won at each of his two most recent attempts, has drawn very badly, and second, his regular rider, N. Harris, has a prior engagement for the race.
If he runs he will be a warm favourite.
