NEW GROUP FORMED
students More than 17,000 students in tertiary education in Christchurch are represented in a new association which held its first meeting last evening. The Christchurch Association of Tertiary Students is the third to be formed in New Zealand. The others are in /Auckland and Palmerston North. The major aim of the group is to co-ordinate the provision of student accommodation, and health and welfare services, and to stimulate more education liaison. The document establishing the new association was formally signed last evening by representatives of students’ associations of both divisions of the Christchurch Teachers’ College, the University of Canterbury. Lincoln College, the Christchurch Technical Institute, the Christchurch General Nurses’ Association and the Kindergarten Teachers’ College.
