'Do Something’ progress
So far 520 cards had been returned representing a total of 823 volunteers for the community movement, “Do Something,” said the convener (Mr P. K. Keller) yesterday. It was expected that 200 more cards would be received. A total of 80,000 had been sent out. Mr Keller said that the project as a whole was regarded as a success; but the public had been apathetic about the support that youth organisations, in particular, had sought. Volunteers in this section came to only 59: Y.M.C.A., 26; Y.W.C.A., 12; Scout Association. 16: and Boys’ Brigade, Canterbury Battalion, 5.
