Advertising by balloon
(N.Z. Frees Aitoeiatton) WELLINGTON, August 3. Necks craned in central Wellington today when a car dealer sent a balloon 10ft in diameter soaring 250 feet in thetair. Advertising signs are being prepared to hang from what might become—weather and vandals permitting—a permanent feature of the skyline.
Made in Japan, the nylon balloon holds 400 cu. ft of hydrogen. "We didn’t get permission for it. My attitude was that if there’s a law against flying a balloon someone is bound to tell us,” said a spokesman for the firm. The Wellington City Council has no by-law covering the situation.
