Golf lead reduced
(N.Z.P.A -Reuter— Copyright) NEW YORK. A. Palmer and J. Nicklaus. winners of the 1971 national team championship, have cut into L. Trevino’s lead in professional golf’s money-win-ning race. Palmer and Nicklaus each won $20,000 for their team victory, while Trevino has been off form since his victories in the United States, Canadian and British Opens. Nicklaus now has $187,763, and Palmer $184,799. Trevino, who failed to make the cut in the team championship, retains the lead with $197,219.
