Changes in Sudan
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) CAIRO, August 4. President Jaafar el-Nimeiry of the Sudan appointed a new Foreign Minister and six other new Ministers in a reorganisation of his Cabinet. Mr Farouk Abou Issa, a prominent former Leftist, lately said to have severed all connections with the Left, was replaced as Foreign Minister by Dr Mansour Khaled, Sudan’s permanent representative at the United Nations.
The new Ministers are in charge of labour, works, communications and animal resources.
General Nimeiry has also recalled his ambassadors from London, Rome and Belgrade. Observers said that the recalls did not necessarily indicate any displeasure with those countries. An envoy of President Tito has visited Khartoum since General Nimeiry returned to power in a counter-coup and there has been no hint of criticism of Jugoslavia in his attacks on the Moscowaligned Communist countries.
