July blood figures

The Canterbury blood transfusion service last month received 1248 donations of blood, 613 being given at the rooms and 635 in the mobile unit, the secretary (Mr A. T. Sindlen) said yesterday. The mobile unit travelled to Burnham Military Camp, where 117 donations were given, 97 persons being new donors; to Paparua Prison, 94 (70); to the University of Canterbury at Ham, 89 (82): to the Hornby industrial area, 172 (37); and to Rangiora 163 (24). The service enrolled 72 new donors at the rooms and 310 in the mobile unit. There were 782 units of blood issued for transfusion purposes, and 269 units were sent to Australia for processing. The mobile unit will visit Ashburton tomorrow, Waikari on August 12, Christchurch Airport on August 19, and Kaiapoi on August 26.
