Swimming chairman
Mr M. R. Duckmanton was appointed chairman of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association council last evening, replacing Mr A. J. Donaldson, who retired from the position after 13 years. Mr Duckmanton beat Mr G. S. Brockett, the national president, In a ballot: Mr Brockett was appointed deputy-chairman. The following records were ratified by the council:— Long course.—Miss S. J. Hunter (Canterbury), 220 yards and 200 metres, junior girls' backstroke, 2mln SS.Ssec. Short course.—C. M. Hudgell (Auckland). 100 yards junior boys’ backstroke, SO.Osec; 220 yards and 200 metres junior boys* backstroke, 2min 23.1 sec.
