DOG TRIALS SUCCESS
(N.Z. Press Association) KAIKOHE, June 18. A Hawarden farmer, J. G. Calder, aged 23, with Jack, added to yesterday’s North Island championship by winning the New Zealand straight huntaway (class 4) championship at Te Ahu Ahu today, with an aggregate of 189 J points. The runner-up was W. M. Lundie, of Price’s Valley, Little River, with Me Clare and a score of 1881 points.
The other five placings were: M. R. Ballerby (Walpukurau), Boy, 187 points; G. Woollaston (Taihape), Rogue, 184; R. W. Henricksen (Hunterville), Black, 1834; R - & Guthrie (Masterton), 182]; D. Woodlll (Akaroa), Dock, 171. D. G. Horn (Mangapal,
Northland), wit hSpot, won the North Island short head and yard (class 2) championship, the runnerup being R. M. Wilson (Kirwee), with Rose. Placing* and point! wore: D. 6. Hom (Mangapal), Spot, *1 Solnts; R. M. Wilson (Klrwss), ota, M; F. A. Hsnrlcksan (Oannavlaka), Chief, »5; c. H. Anderton (Walpukursu), Tam, M|; C. J. Crtitchley (Central Otage), lob. Mi; 1. Lopdell (Hastings), Boy, MJ; F. Gibbs (Nelson), Bob, fa}. These seven will contest the New Zealand short head and yard championship tomorrow.
