Convicted after brawl
(N.Z Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 18. Rueben Peter Murray, aged 35, a bar manager, was convicted on a charge of resisting arrest and of disorderly behaviour when he appeared in the Magistrate’s Court today. He had previously denied both charges. The charges arose from an incident on June 6, when there was a brawl between members of the Peacemakers Club and gang members. Mr A. A. Coates, S.M., fined him $3O, with costs, for disorderly behaviour, and $l5, with costs, for resisting arrest.
People should not take the law into their.own hands. The circumstances had been extremely extenuating and therefore he would impose only a monetary penalty, the Magistrate said.
