UNIVERSITY VACANCIES NEW ZEALAND INSTITUTE OF ECONOMIC RESEARCH THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the position of Director to replace Mr J. W. Rowe who has been appointed Professor Economics at Massey University. The Institute was founded in 1958 as a non-profit making incorporated society. Although funded by the private sector it enjoys the support of Government and maintains close liaison with Victoria University. The Institute is the only independent economic research agency in New Zealand and as such is often called upon to undertake studies of national importance. A setui-autonomous contract research unit is attached to the Institute. The salary is $ll,OOO p.a. plus membership of an F.S.S.U. type superannuation scheme to which staff contribute 5% of salary and Trustees 10%. A car is provided for the Director’s use and an expense allowance is payable. A five-year initial term of appointment is envisaged, and fares and removal expenses will be met by the Institute.
