Robinia

Sir, —I cannot refrain from Writing to you to express my pleasure (I almost-said “joy,” and why not?) on opening my paper this morning to find a picture of a flowering branch of Robinia pseudacacia—the honey-bee tree. Having left one behind in a Redcliffs garden many years ago, and having failed to gather its seed pods, I had almost given up hope of finding another when, by a strange chance, one was brought to my door from Methven. Since then I have traced many others. As “honey for health” is my motto, I am looking forward to next flowering season to watch myriads of bees gathering its nectar for some beekeeper’s hives. Yours, MILLICENT JENNINGS. June 18, 1971.
