Cooper and Nagle pair
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) LONDON. The Australian golfer, K. G. Nagle, will partner the retired boxer, H. Cooper, for the £4OOO Sunbeam Electric pro-am golf tournament.
Since his retirement from the ring Cooper has turned his attention to golf. Other amateurs competing in the event at Royal Mid-Surrey, Richmond, near London, on June 2829, include the racing driver, G. Hill, and show business personalities Charlie Drake, Daniel Massey, Christopher Lee and Stanley Baker.
The 36-hole event is the final “warm up” on the British P.G.A. circuit before the British Open championship at Royal Birkdale the following week.
In addition to £4OOO prize money for the professionals, there are additional prizes of £2500 for a hole-in-one at the first, a car for an ace at the eleventh, £2500 for an eagle two at the eighteenth, and 12 bottles of lager beer each week for five years for a holed tee shot at the fifth.
The two-day event Is In aid of the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, the National Playing Fields Association, and the Golf Foundation.
