Belfast bombs cause terror
(N.Z.P .A.-Reuter —Copyright) BELFAST, June 15. A bomb explosion that was heard for miles around severely damaged an unoccupied shop and the flat above in the Roman Catholic unit-flats area of Belfast early yesterday.
Hundreds of families from the Roman Catholic housing complex, which is in the centre of the predominantly Protestant Shankill Road area, ran in terror on to the streets after the blast.
No-one was hurt in the explosion, but ambulancemen treated a large number of people for shock. The bomb was placed in an empty shop sometimes used by the British Army as an observation post in the riottom area.
Security forces quickly closed the area and helped
j many frightened families . back into their homes. ' The explosion was the * third in two hours in the i Northern Ireland capital. A security guard received | cuts from flying glass when a protestant-owned factory’s ' social centre was bombed, ! and later, a disused police training centre nearby was damaged by an explosion.
