N.G. Harris suspended
The North Island apprentice, N. G. Harris, was suspended until 5 p.m. on May 25 (two riding days) by the Canterbury Jockey Club’s judicial committee at an inquiry adjourned from Tuesday until yesterday. Harris, the rider of Solved, in the Second Latimer Handicap at Riccarton on Tuesday, was charged after the race with care* less riding and causing interference. The inquiry was adjourned until vesterday to enable written evidence from J. R. Dowling, the rider of Glaring Shame, to be § resented, and also verbal evlence from G. W. Mein, the rider of Gyrate. Glaring Shame fell about a furlong after the start and Dowling was sent to hospieal. The committee found that Harris was guilty of interference to Lord Manfred and Silver Charm, but it thought that the evidence about the fall of Glaring Shame was not completely clear and was to some extent conflicting; that evidence was not taken into account in fixing the penalty.
