$4m bid for Canonero

Negotiations for sale of. the great South American racehorse; Canonero 11, will be held at a meeting in Miami this week, Venezuela Stud (Inc.); said on Wednesday, the Associated Press reported. The agency said it had arranged the meeting between the owners of the thoroughbred and the trainer, B. Lepman. who represents a syndicate seeking to buy the winner of the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes. A bid of SUS4m (SNZ3.Sm) for the $l2OO yearling was reported on Monday in Baltimore, where Canonero n is training for the Belmont Stakes. He is a strong favourite to become the first Triple Crown winner in racing since Citation in 1948.
