Turner, who was in great form on the New Zealand circuit before leaving for Europe, finished on the same lap and gave the Japanese factory its strongest hopes so far of making a name in 500 c.c. racing. He held off the French rider, E. Offenstadt (500 c.c. Kawasaki three), who finally finished third with surprising ease.
