A programme for more intensive training of customs preventive officers would be planned at a two-day conference of senior officers at Wellington this week, said the Minister of Customs (Mr Adams-Schneider) today. “The need for more inten- , sive and concentrated train- ' ing has been brought about ' by the upsurge in smuggling - in recent years, particularly : of narcotics, and the necessity to keep abreast of tech- ; niques and trends,” the Minister said.
