PART-TIME MEDICAL SUPERINTENDENT—S/10 ths Applications are invited from suitably qualified and duly registered medical practitioners for the above position at this new 25 bed General Hospital. Desirably the appointee would take up his duties before the opening of the hospital in order to supervise its commissioning and staffing. The position is of specialist or medical officer of special scale status in accordance with the definitions of the Hospital Employment (Medical Officers) Regulations. The specialist whole time scale ranges from $7500 to $lO,lOO p.a. and the medical officer of special scale, scales range from $5250 to $9125 per annum. PART-TIME SPECIALIST SURGEON—7/10ths Applicants should be duly registered medical practitioners of surgical specialist status. Whole time salary scale ranges from $7500 to $lO,lOO per annum. This is a position of specialist status and applicants should have been qualified for a minimum period of eight years, have had five years experience in general medicine and renal dialysis, and possess an appropriate higher quail fication. The appointee will be responsible for the control and efficient running of the Renal Dialysis Department and will also be required to undertake such general medical duties as required by the Medical Superintendent, Waikato Hospital. The successful applicant will be required to have obtained or to obtain registration in New Zealand before taking up duties. Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the Hospital Employment (Medical Officers) Regulations in the scale $7500$lO,OOO, actual commencing rate to be determined by the Direc-tor-General of Health having regard to previous experience and qualifications. Waikato Hospital is an 800 bedded hospital and is’rapidly expanding. It is situated in the city of Hamilton, population 65,000 and is the base hospital for a very wide district. This Fellowship is intended to provide a suitable young graduate with an opportunity to engage mainly in research but also to assist with teaching. It is tenable for one year only and is available in any one of the following departments: Pathology, Clinical Biochemistry, Microbiology, Preventive and Social Medicine, Pharmacology, Medicine, Psychlogical Medicine.
