the domestic window market, which was now in excess of 30 per cent. This, although satisfactory, still allowed for considerable growth, and Alcan was confident that the association will provide an impetus for further development and penetration, he said.

Marketing is on a national basis, with manufacturing and assembling facilities in all major areas. Mr Swift said me companies were among the fastest growing aluminium joinery manufacturers in New Zealand, and had greatly contributed to aluminium penetration into

“Alcan’s existing extrusion facilities, together with a new extrusion press due for first production during May, and part of the $6.5 million expansion programme, will ensure an adequate and rapid supply of extrusion to meet all foreseeable demands for top quality competitive joinery. “Alcan will be represented on the boards of each company.” In a statement from Hamilton the managing director of Rolls Industries, Ltd (Mr C. J. Kirkland-Smith) said that his company welcomed Alcan’s participation, and the addition of an Alcan representative to the Rolls board. He noted that Rolls Industries was founded in Hamilton about five years ago, and in rapid growth over the last three years had built up 160 joiner agents throughout the country. In the last 15 months it had also opened factories in Christchurch and Fiji.
