OVEN-FIRE DANGER
Householders could best deal with oven fires by leaving the oven door shut, turning off the electricity, closing the door of the kitchen and calling the fire brigade, the Chief Fire Officer (Mr F. A. Hardy) told the Christchurch Metropolitan Fire Board last evening.
The board members commented at the large number of oven fires reported last month and substantial damage caused to houses by sofne of them.
