Pros again challenged
Christchurch golf club professionals, so often starved of competition, now have what almost amounts to a glut.
Reading in “The Press” of their matches against Canterbury amateur and women’s teams last week-end, the secretary of the Mid-South Canterbury association (Mr B. Forrest) has asked the professionals to accept a challenge from the Mid-South Freyberg Rose Bowl team. The professionals immediately agreed, and the match will be played at Russley on Sunday at 10.45 a.m. It will mark the meeting again of two former Canterbury team-mates, R. C. Murray, now Mid-South’s No. 1, and C. W. Caldwell, the Christchurch professional. The other games will be (professionals named first): — J. H. Brooker v. G. D. Brown; M. P. Skilton v. A. C. Browne; G. D. Pitman v. W. Romeril; P. R. Davis v. G. P. Vesty.
