CAPPING PATROLS
As a precautionary measure extra police patrols would be put on during capping week next week, the head of the Christchurch police district (Chief Superintendent G. Tait) said yesterday.
Police would keep a strict watch for minors drinking, and those hotels in which student misbehaviour was reported last year would also receive attention. Mr Tait said that he was very impressed with efforts being made this year by the University of Canterbury Students’ Association to prevent trouble. “However, I am aware that the association cannot control everyone. I do not expect trouble, but it is prudent to have extra patrols out.”
