Survey of transport
(N.Z. Praia Association) DUNEDIN, Mar. 28. New Zealand might soon have its first total survey of transport economics, the Minister of Transport (Mr Gordon) announces at the week-end. ... The Minister said that approaches were being made and tenders were being called from world consultants for a total transport survey within New Zealand. The survey would probably take at least 18 months.
Mr Gordon emphasised that the survey would be subject to satisfactory terms of reference being arrived at and an acceptable fee being negotiated. He said the Government still .could not get the research in depth it believed necessary on transport matters in spite of a greatly strengthened economic research section within the combined Ministry of Transport.
