Bowlers on top
In a day when bowlers dictated the terms, Cashmere High School played itself to a sound position in its annual cricket match against Linwood High School. On a pitch which played very slowly in the morning, G. Magon bowled inswingers with spectacular success, and followed this with the best batting performance of the day. The match will finish today. Scores: Linwood High School 61 (Magon 5/23, M. Thompson 3/6) and 40/0; Cashmere High School 133 (Magon 32 not out; J. Dunn 5/41, N. McTaggart 4/56).
Olympic soccer.—Morocco beat Niger, 5-2, in an African Group One preliminary match of the 1972 Olympic soccer tournament in Casablanca.
