Gillette Chatham Cup draw
The southern league title-holder, Technical, is the odd team out in the 13 clubs that are involved in the Canter-bury-South Canterbury qualifying section of the Gillette Chatham Cup soccer competition.
Technical has received a bye in the first round, to be played on Easter Monday, and the other 12 will be involved in the “sudden-death” clashes. It was earlier intended to have 11 byes and one maitch in the first qualifying round, to reduce the entry to 12. Now, Technical will join the six winners and one match
will be drawn for the second round.
The first round matches are: Western v. Woolston W.M.C.; Riccarton v. High School Old Boys; University v. Halswell; Shamrock v. New Brighton; Bumdale v. Christchurch City; Timaru City v. Rangers. Shamrock and Brighton will clash for the second time in three days. On Easter Saturday, they will meet in a southern league fixture.
