It was the most trying day the Indians have spent in the field during their tour. They felt the full impact of G. Sobers’s brilliance for 235 minutes during which he made 135 including a six and 16 fours. Sobers’s cousin, the allrounder D. Holford, scored 111 and helped Sobers add 213 runs for the fourth wicket in 205 minutes. The Indians, who had
fielded for 50 minutes yesterday and conceded 44 runs without claiming a wicket, hit back during the first hour this morning, thanks to Abid Ali, who took the wickets of Lashley, Nurse and Bynoe’in that order during the first hour.
