PLAYER AGAIN

Second win in a row (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) MIAMI. The South African, G. Player, has won the SUS4O,OOO first prize in the National Airlines open golf tournament. Player stormed out of a closely bunched field with a string of three consecutive birdies to score his second consecutive victory on the American tour. He had a four-under-par 68, in spite of bogeys on the last two holes —and finished with a 274 total, 14-under-par on the 6970-yard course at the Country Club of Miami. Player, wh< won last week’s Greater Jackonsville Open, scored by two strokes over L. Trevino, the defending champion and his playing partner. Trevino had a final 69 for 276.

$65,000 IN FORTNIGHT The win, the seventy-fifth of Player’s globe-trotting career, made his earnings for the last two weeks $U565,000. The Australian, B. Crampton, who shared the thirdround lead with Player, had a final 72 for 278, and was tied for fourth with the Texan, C. Coody, who had a 70. CHARLES EARNS $3OO New Zealand’s R. J. Charles finished the tournament with 291. He had rounds of 71, 72, 76 and 72. His prize money fof the tournament was $3OO. The final score of Australia’s B. Devlin was 280, and England’s A. Jacklin finished with 285.
