CN Z. Press Association* AUCKLAND, March 28. Four members of an Auckland family, stranded in heavy bush at Wenderholm, !sat huddled together to ward ■ off cold wind and rain before being rescued early this morning. Mr A. Leigh, aged 45, of | Glenfield, his daughters, ! Susan, aged five, and Barbara, aged 14, and his father, Mr S. Leigh, aged 73, entered the bush about 5.45 p.m. on Saturday. The party set itself an hour and a half to complete the one mile and a half bush walk through the reserve. But a path they took petered) out and after turning back’ and later realising they would! not be able to get back in the dark, Mr Leigh decided that rather than become hopelessly lost, it would be better to wait until help reached them or dawn came. About 1 a.m. they were found by a search party. Mr Leigh said the children and his father had stood up to the ordeal remarkably well.
