Asian post for curate

The Rev. S. H. H. Acland, at present curate in the Anglican parish of Belfast-Red-wood, has been appointed vicar of St Paul’s Church, Upper Serangoon, Singapore, for a period of at least three years. He will leave New Zealand with his wife about the middle of June. . Before his ordination tojhe ministry, Mr Acland was for a time a reporter on the “Christchurch Star,” after which he travelled to England where he gained experience in the commercial world. He did his theological training at Westcott House, Cambridge, and was ordained in England in 1967. His first curacy was served at St Margaret’s, Prestwich, Manchester. In 1969, he returned to New Zealand to become curate in the parish of Papanui and later in the same year he was appointed to his present position. Mr Acland’s new appointment continues a close association between the Christchurch Diocese and the Diocese of Singapore. Christchurch persons who have already served in Singapore are the Rev. L. E. Pfankuch, the Rev. W. Marriott and Mrs Marriott, the Rev. R. Allen and Mrs Allen, the Rev. A. McKenzie and Mrs McKenzie and Miss E. Smith.
