One job enough
The president of the Federation of Labour (Mr T. E. Skinner) last night resigned as secretary of the New Zealand Musicians’ Union. Mr Skinner was made secretary of the union 28 years ago when the national conference of the musicians’ union was last held in Christchurch. The union’s conference is being held in Christchurch this week.
The F.O.L. had reached the stage for a complete reorganisation, Mr Skinner said. It was impossible to do the job of president efficiently with other ties. Mr Skinner recalled that when he was elected secretary, reservations were felt because he was a plumber. To overcome this difficulty he had been presented with a triangle.
